Filming Day 2: Getting Ready for the Date (girl)

We filmed the scenes of the protagonist getting ready for her date with the antagonist.
In these scenes it it revealed as to why the protagonist is dating the male lead and what exactly her intentions are.
The shots stubbly show this by more emphasise on the mise-en-scene. The settings are made more powerful and contrasted with the casual actions of the character. The juxtaposition makes the scenes more mysterious and thought-provoking.

Due to one of my group members dropping the subject I took on the job of direction, framing of shots and Shiza did the setting up of the whole mise-en-scene.
We used the tripod for stability, panning and tilting. The boom mic was used to record the sound of the actions being performed (for example; grabbing of keys).

Story Board Change

Because different high class restaurants rejected our appeal to shoot with their settings we decided on changing the storyboard. Taking a risk on the mis-en-scene was not an option for us.
The story line was altered. The new story was that the female lead was trying to kill the male lead  because he is a serial killer. One of the victims of his brutal killings is the best friend of the protagonist . The antagonist (male charatcer) hopes to kill the protagonist for his own pleasure to add her to his list of young female girls murdered.

The story was altered by me myself with help of my group members. I also constructed the storyboard.

Filming Day 1: The Date

We began our shooting yesterday. We started off by filming the date scenes in the resturant. The venue selected was a resturant named AQS in the arts and crafts village in Islamabad.
Luckily by putting in the time and effort we managed to film all the date scenes without any hassle.
I worked with sound and the camera shots mostly. I assisted the DOP (Shia Wasim) in the framing and brainstorming over what would be more creative.
These scenes were very formal according to the script and the lighting we went with was yellow hues to give it a more warm effect.
It was a hassle getting the perfect shots but after alot of tries we would eventually come across them.
The variety of shots included close-ups, mid shots, long shots, pan and tilt. The female actor's face was not revealed through out.
We recorded the audio with a boom mic 45 degrees from below , not above due to the shadows forming.

Shooting Survey

(In picture: Testing of lighting and sound )

Yesterday we went to different resturants in our city to rehearse the scenes to be shot after two days. We selected our settings in much detail and checked the mic and lighting, This survey also helped in making the two actors more comfortable with each other and their roles. The shots that were to be taken in the actual shoot were tested out.
Our shots were a range of close-ups, over-the-shoulder, mid-shots and one that displayed the mis-en-scene of the area.
I helped out the DOP (Shiza Wasim) in planning out the shots taken and planning of how to shoot will be carried out. I also assisted with testing out the sound with the Sound Director (Nikmateen Rasool) and choosing the location and setting with the Set Designer (Saleha Khan).
We surveyed different restaurants to see which one fit the scene best according to our preference.
Equipment we used was a boom mic, a nikon D5200 and a tripod.

Overall Plan for Film Opening: Decided

Today in class we did a presentation of our detailed story board and overall plan for the movie.
Me and my group members decided which role who will be handling. I will be handling the Direction and partial Editing.
We finalized the story and shooting plan for our Film Opening. Above you can see our story board.
The story decided is about a serial killer who is stalking this rich bachelor. We have decided to convey the story through the main element of cross cutting. Because its a film opening, all that will be shown to the audience gradually is the girl's real identity.
My group and I are planning on starting off by this weekend with the filming.

Advertisement Shooting

So today we got the assignment to make an advertisement for any sort of product. In school, naturally the only easily available thing we came across was something edible.
So Twist juice it was!
We started off by thinking up what to make and sketching a story board to aid us while filming,
And then we went on with the filming.
I'm still editing it but I hope to make it as funny as possible!
